I was remembering this morning that Valentines Day for single people can be an uncomfortable time. You look around and it seems like everyone has someone but you. It can be depressing but it doesn’t have to be.
First of all it’s only one day. Anyone can get through 24 hrs. Secondly if you are alone believe that God has your special person in preparation for you,and only you,and when the time is right you will meet. To attract your person become the person YOU would want your someone to be.
Don’t become unequally yoked. Don’t be so eager for that person that you settle for someone who doesn’t have the same beliefs that you have in God. A lot of us had bad relationships, in the past, because we saw someone “we just had to have” and overlooked the fact that our Spirituality was nowhere near theirs. We think we can change them but that doesn’t happen and the constant struggle between light and darkness is draining.
I take that one step further with those who come to me for relationship counseling. I say make sure that their level of belief matches yours. For instance if you have a close intimate relationship with God then dating a brand new believer can be frustrating. Make a list of what you want in a person. Put 5 things on the list that you refuse to compromise about. Don’t allow yourself to become so lonely that you settle.
Sometimes that gorgeous person is a trap. Be realistic, if you were Satan would you send an ugly person to trap a believer?
Love really is eternal. Don’t be stuck for eternity with someone that makes your life on earth a living hell.
Be patient for one more Valentines Day. Your perfect gift from God is being prepared for you! Now repeat after me. ITS ONLY ONE DAY!
In His Unconditional Love,
